Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 quart water
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 8 cloves garlic, chopped finely
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 whole allspice
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder (or more)
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon baking cocoa powder (or 1/2 ounce solid baking chocolate)
  • Black pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Boil water and raw ground beef slowly for 30 minutes (don’t brown ground beef ahead of time…crumble it into small bits and boil it). Add other ingredients and cook over low heat for at least 4 hours. Stirring often.

  • Step 2: Cool then refrigerate overnight and then skim off fat. Eat and enjoy!
