Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef (browned)
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 30 ounces kidney beans, canned (two 15.5 ounce cans, drained and rinsed)
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, drained (canned)
  • 8 ounces no-salt-added tomato sauce (one 8 ounce can)
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine beef, onions, pepper, garlic, beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, 2 tablespoons of chili powder, cayenne pepper and 1/2 teaspoon each of the cumin and the oregano in slow cooker.

  • Step 2: Cover and cook on High for 4 hrs or Low for 6 hrs.

  • Step 3: Remove cover and stir in remaining 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon each of cumin and oregano and the salt.

  • Step 4: Serve.
