Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 yellow onion (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings
  • 1 pound ground beef chuck
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 ounces sliced bread (3 slices white bread)
  • 1 large egg

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium skillet add 1 teaspoon of bacon drippings and fry onions until golden brown.

  • Step 2: Place bread slices in a large bowl and add milk. Set aside until most or all of the milk is absorbed by the bread.

  • Step 3: To the bread add the fried onions, egg, beef, pork, salt and pepper. Work together with clean hands until everything is well combined.

  • Step 4: Put bread crumbs on plate. Form 8 hamburger patties and roll in the bread crumbs. Heat the remaining bacon drippings in the skillet the onions were fried in. Place patties in the skillet and brown. Put browned patties in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
