Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds turnips, young, peeled and quartered
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup vegetable stock
  • 1 rosemary sprig
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Parsley, chopped (garnish)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan of boiling salted water over medium heat add the turnips and bring back to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for 10 minutes; drain.

  • Step 2: In the same saucepan which has been rinsed out over low heat melt the butter and then add the turnips and sugar, stirring to coat the turnips.

  • Step 3: Stir in the stock and rosemary and bring back to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until liquid has reduced and turnips are tender and glazed

  • Step 4: Remove from heat and discard rosemary and season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 5: Serve garnished with parsley and grated orange rind, if desired.
