  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon peel, grated
  • Dry
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream butter, shortening and sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg.

  • Step 2: Add lemon juice and lemon peel and mix well.

  • Step 3: In another bowl, combine remaining ingredients.

  • Step 4: Add to cream mixture.

  • Step 5: Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  • Step 6: Remove from refrigerator and form into two 10-inch rolls on waxed paper.

  • Step 7: Wrap tightly and refrigerate overnight.

  • Step 8: Next day, preheat oven to 400F.

  • Step 9: Slice rolls into 1/4-inch slices and bake on ungreased cookie sheets 8 to 10 minutes.
