Step 1: Cook fettuccine in heavily salted boiling water until al dente, drain.
Step 2: While pasta is cooking, make sauce by melting butter in a saucepan on low heat.
Step 3: Remove butter from heat and blend in cream and cheese.
Step 4: Return to heat and simmer thoroughly, season with salt and pepper as desired, being careful not to let the sauce come to a boil.
Step 5: Add the sauce to the drained pasta and let stand, covered, for a couple of minutes.
Step 6: Garnish with parsley .
