Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Onions
  • 2 tablespoons onion flakes, dried
  • 1 cup water, warm
  • Burger
  • 1 cup onion, finely diced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup mustard, prepared, yellow, about 1 teaspoon each slider
  • 32 dill pickle chips, 2 per slider
  • 16 ounces dinner rolls, yeasted, sliced in half horizontally
  • 8 ounces bacon, cooked, cut in half
  • 8 ounces American cheese, sliced, use half slice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak the onion flakes in water overnight. Save water as the 1/4 cup water.

  • Step 2: Preheat oven to 375 °F.

  • Step 3: Mix in the dried reconstituted onions in with fresh onto a 11 x 17 inch baking sheet and set aside.

  • Step 4: Add ground beef, water, salt, and pepper to a large bowl and mix thoroughly to combine.

  • Step 5: Put the meat between two pieces of wax paper then use a rolling pin to roll it out into an 11 x 17 inch rectangle.

  • Step 6: Then add the meat on top of the onion layer.

  • Step 7: Score the meat mixture with pizza cutter.

  • Step 8: Cut 16 sections.

  • Step 9: Do this by scoring the meat lengthwise down the center of the tray.

  • Step 10: Next score the meat widthwise across the middle. Then repeat the widthwise scores again scoring each section of meat in half again.

  • Step 11: Repeat this again and score each of the four sections widthwise again to end up with 16 sections.

  • Step 12: The sections will not be completely square.

  • Step 13: Bake at 375°F covered in aluminum foil cut a little larger because your steaming buns later for 15 minutes.

  • Step 14: Add cheese to each patty, then bacon.

  • Step 15: Put the bottom bun upside down on the cooked burgers and place the top on the upside down bottom.

  • Step 16: Wrap in foil and return to the oven for 5 minutes.

  • Step 17: Bake a few minutes more until cheese is just melted, not runny watch closely.

  • Step 18: There will be juices released as the meat and onions cook.

  • Step 19: To serve: add one burger patty, some onions, mustard, and two dill pickle slices to each burger.
