Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • WINGS
  • 2 pounds wings (each section cut into pieces, wing tips removed)
  • Canola oil, for frying
  • GLAZE
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 bird's eye Thai chilies, finely minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce, (low sodium can be used)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Freshly ground cracked black pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add garlic, chilies, red pepper flakes, and bay leaves. Saute 1-2 minutes until the garlic just starts to brown.

  • Step 2: Add vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar and black pepper, and stir to combine.

  • Step 3: Bring sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until sauce starts to reduce and thickens a little. When slightly thickened, remove from stove and cover.

  • Step 4: Cooking The Wings: Add the canola oil to a large skillet to reach 1 inch deep. Heat over medium-high heat, until oil reaches 350-375 degrees F.

  • Step 5: Add wings to skillet. Cook for 8-10 minutes until wings are golden brown. When done drain on paper towels.

  • Step 6: Transfer the wings in a large bowl.

  • Step 7: Pour the glaze over the chicken wings and toss well, to coat.

  • Step 8: Pick out the bay leaves and serve immediately.
