Step 3: In bowl, whisk dry ingredients.
Step 4: Mix egg and buttermilk together and pour into dry ingredients.
Step 5: Mix, adding lard (can use shortening) when melted.
Step 6: Pour batter into very hot skillet.
Step 7: Bake 20 to 25 minutes until browned.
