Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds ground beef (chuck)
  • 1/2 pound pork sausage
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon steak sauce (Heinz 57)
  • 2 teaspoons green peppercorns, ground
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon parsley, dried
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 8 ounces bacon (8 slices)
  • 2 cups brown gravy, hot

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground chuck, sausage, eggs, oats, steak sauce, green peppercorns, onion powder, parsley, seasoned salt, pepper and 1/2 cup ketchup.

  • Step 3: Mix gently but well.

  • Step 4: Shape mixture into a loaf about 4 1/2 inches wide, 2 1/2 inches thick and 11 inches long.

  • Step 5: Put in a shallow baking dish

  • Step 6: Top loaf with remaining 1/2 cup ketchup.

  • Step 7: Arrange bacon slices on top.

  • Step 8: Bake 35 minutes until cooked through. (Check and cook until done)

  • Step 9: Allow to rest 10 minutes before slicing.

  • Step 10: Serve with brown gravy.
