  • 8 ounces bacon, diced (or bacon fat)
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 8 ounces beef kielbasa, diced
  • 2 1/2 cups water, boiling
  • 7 ounces white rice, dry (1 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup lima beans, frozen
  • 1 cup peas, frozen
  • 2 tablespoons butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: In deep skillet, fry bacon until it's almost crispy, then add onion.

  • Step 2: Fry a little longer, then add sausage.

  • Step 3: Fry a bit longer and then add the paprika.

  • Step 4: When it's done, add the hot water.

  • Step 5: When water boils, add the rice, salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 6: Cover and simmer over low flame for 25 minutes, then stir in lima beans, peas and butter.

  • Step 7: Simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Step 8: Cover and take off heat and let set 5 minutes.

  • Step 9: Fluff and season to taste.
