The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound carrots, peeled, diced (2 1/4 cups)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups onions, sliced thin (3 medium)
  • 1/2 cup water (from cooked carrots)
  • 3 tart apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/8 inch slices
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper, to taste
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Boil carrots in water just to cover with salt & sugar until tender crisp.

  • Step 2: Saute onions in butter until opaque.

  • Step 3: Add cooked carrots to the onions with the 1/2 cup reserved water.

  • Step 4: Add apples to the mixture.

  • Step 5: Simmer for 20 minutes.

  • Step 6: Turn into serving dish.

  • Step 7: Add fresh pepper and lemon juice to taste.

  • Step 8: Place a slice of fresh lemon in the center as a garnish.
