Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 12 ounces spaghetti noodles
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lemon, zested
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Bring large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package directions, reserve about 1 cup pasta water, then drain.

  • Step 2: While pasta is cooking, in a large skillet over medium heat, combine oil, garlic and red pepper flakes, cook, stirring often, until just beginning to turn golden, 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to let garlic burn.

  • Step 3: Add drained spaghetti to skillet, and toss to evenly coat. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time, stirring until desired consistency is reached.

  • Step 4: Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in parsley and lemon zest.

  • Step 5: Serve immediately, topped with cheese, if desired. Refrigerate any leftovers.
