  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked

  • 1 onion, small, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes (1 can)
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon basil, dried
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, fresh, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.

  • Step 2: Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  • Step 4: Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 5: In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley until well combined.

  • Step 6: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Step 7: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  • Step 8: Layer three cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.

  • Step 9: Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.

  • Step 10: Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese.

  • Step 11: Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.

  • Step 12: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

  • Step 13: Remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.

  • Step 14: Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
