Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 4 ounces hotdogs sliced in coins (4)
  • 1 French shallot, diced finely
  • 1 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced finely
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • Spaghetti
  • 8 ounces dried spaghetti
  • 6 cups water, boiling
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Serve
  • 2 ounces mild cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 ounces parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the pasta in heavily salted boiling water until al dente, drain, saving 1 cup pasta water.

  • Step 2: In skillet heat oil.

  • Step 3: Cook hot dogs until lightly browned.

  • Step 4: Add bell pepper, shallots and ground beef, (I'm adding more ground beef they had 1/4 pound )

  • Step 5: Cook until browned.

  • Step 6: Add tomato paste and brown sugar.

  • Step 7: Add pasta water and ketchup, add more if needed.

  • Step 8: Simmer, adding cooked, drained spaghetti.

  • Step 9: Season to taste, adding red pepper flakes to taste or not at all.

  • Step 10: Cook until tight.

  • Step 11: Add cheese to taste.
