Step 1: Bring lima beans to a boil in cold water.
Step 2: Let stand 1 hour.
Step 3: Brown sausage with chopped onion.
Step 4: Drain grease as needed.
Step 5: Drain beans, saving liquid.
Step 6: Put drained beans, sausage, tomato soup, barbecue sauce and sugar in a Pam sprayed 1 quart casserole dish.
Step 7: Add enough saved liquid to cover beans.
Step 8: Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour until thickened and bubbly but not dry.
