Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds ground beef (chuck)
  • 1 cup onions, diced
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 celery stalk diced, leaves too
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 ounces tomato paste (1 can)
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced
  • 15 ounces tomatoes (1 can)
  • 1 teaspoon black strap molasses
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 1 cup water
  • 60 ounces kidney beans, undrained,(4 cans)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Brown ground chuck and onions and season lightly.

  • Step 2: Drain grease if needed, add celery, mushrooms and bell pepper.

  • Step 3: Cook until tender.

  • Step 4: Add tomato paste rinsing out can with water.

  • Step 5: Add seasoning.

  • Step 6: Add everything else but beans and simmer for 30 minutes.

  • Step 7: Add beans and simmer for 30 minutes more, adding water as needed.

  • Step 8: Season to taste.
