Step 1: Cook bacon in large sauce pan until crisp.
Step 2: Add oil and onions, season lightly and saute until browned, 7 to 8 minutes.
Step 3: Stir in tomato paste, don't burn.
Step 4: Add tomatoes, stock, lemon zest, sugar, parsley, basil and thyme and bring to boil.
Step 5: Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
Step 6: Puree soup with stick blender.
Step 7: Add salt and pepper to taste.
