Step 1: Grease 1 pound coffee can with butter. (She probably used lard. I would spray Pam it myself.)
Step 2: Get water bath ready to go, putting water 1/4 way up can, covered of course.
Step 3: Cream sugar, salt and lard.
Step 4: Add eggs.
Step 5: Dissolve baking soda in warm water and add to mixture.
Step 6: Add sour milk, flour, cornmeal and mix. (Should not be too tight, add more milk if needed.)
Step 7: Pour into greased coffee can.
Step 8: Steam for 3 hours.
Step 9: Bake in 350 degrees F oven for 15 minutes.
