The ingredients are:
  • 1 teaspoon salt, kosher
  • 2 pounds green beans, trimmed
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 2 French shallots, thinly sliced
  • 16 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 cup walnuts

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large pot of heavily salted boiling water, boil green beans until tender around five minutes. Remove promptly to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking, drain and set aside.

  • Step 2: Melt the butter carefully and slowly over medium heat until brown bits start to show and oil turns light gold approximately 5 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add the sliced shallots and let cook until tender.

  • Step 4: Add the garlic salt and pepper to taste, and cook another 5 minutes or so, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 5: Add mushrooms and walnuts.

  • Step 6: Stir frequently until tender about 7 minutes.

  • Step 7: Stir in green beans until warmed through and cover for a few minutes.

  • Step 8: Check that all is hot and if any more salt or pepper is needed.
