Step 1: In a large pot of heavily salted boiling water, boil green beans until tender around five minutes. Remove promptly to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking, drain and set aside.
Step 2: Melt the butter carefully and slowly over medium heat until brown bits start to show and oil turns light gold approximately 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add the sliced shallots and let cook until tender.
Step 4: Add the garlic salt and pepper to taste, and cook another 5 minutes or so, stirring occasionally.
Step 5: Add mushrooms and walnuts.
Step 6: Stir frequently until tender about 7 minutes.
Step 7: Stir in green beans until warmed through and cover for a few minutes.
Step 8: Check that all is hot and if any more salt or pepper is needed.
