Step 1: Place first 9 ingredients in a large Dutch oven, cover and place in a 200 degree oven for 8 hours.
Step 2: Stirring occasionally adding water as needed
Step 3: When beans are tender, remove from oven, place on stovetop and bring to boil.
Step 4: Mix cornstarch and 1/2 cup water, add to soup to thicken, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 5: Season to taste.
