The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste (start with 1/2 teaspoon)
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 7 ounces minute instant rice (1 cup)
  • 3/4 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 10 ounces cream of mushroom soup (1 can)
  • 6 stuffed green olives, sliced
  • 4 ounces Velveeta, cut in strips

How to Make

  • Step 1: Brown meat in large skillet.

  • Step 2: Add onions and cook over medium heat until onions are clear and tender.

  • Step 3: Stir in seasonings, tomatoes, soup, rice and half of olives.

  • Step 4: Simmer covered 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 5: Remove bay leaf

  • Step 6: Spoon into a baking dish and lattice with cheese strips.

  • Step 7: Broil until cheese is melted and decorate with remaining olive slices.
