  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 ounces mushrooms (1 can)
  • 1 tablespoon onion, minced
  • 4 ounces bacon (4 slices)
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Fry bacon until crisp and remove to plate.

  • Step 2: Cook onion in fat until clear, but not brown.

  • Step 3: Add flour, seasoning lightly and don't brown.

  • Step 4: Add milk and juice from mushrooms.

  • Step 5: Cook until thickened.

  • Step 6: Add bacon, cut up in small pieces.

  • Step 7: Cook until thickened.

  • Step 8: Pour sauce over heated, drained, buttered and lightly seasoned peas.
