  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled, grated (2)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper, to taste
  • 1/16 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Butter an 8-by-8-inch baking pan.

  • Step 3: Place the grated potatoes in mixing bowl.

  • Step 4: Add the sugar, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

  • Step 5: Place in the baking pan, smooth the top of the mixture with the back of a spoon.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle the water over the top of the potatoes.

  • Step 7: Dot with butter.

  • Step 8: Cover.

  • Step 9: Bake until the potatoes are soft about 30 minutes.

  • Step 10: Uncover and brown on top about 14 minutes.
