Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Dried
  • 4 ounces dried lima beans (1/2 cup)
  • 4 ounces dried peas (1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 ounce dried white rice (3 tablespoons)
  • 1/4 ounce dried kidney beans (3 tablespoons)
  • 1/4 ounce dried barley (3 tablespoons)
  • 4 cups water
  • Vegetables
  • 1 turnip, peeled, diced
  • 2 carrots peeled, diced
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 15 ounces stewed tomatoes (1 can)
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 pound ham hock
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak dried items in water for 3 hours.

  • Step 2: Drain.

  • Step 3: Add to pot with ham hock and veggies. (They said ham bone)

  • Step 4: They also added bologna, but I'm not, you can.

  • Step 5: Simmer 2 hours until beans are soft.

  • Step 6: Add water as needed, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 7: Remove bones from ham hock and chop ham and put back in.

  • Step 8: Season to taste.
