Step 1: Heat the oil in a sauce pan and fry the sausage, season with lightly with salt and pepper.
Step 2: Add the onions and garlic stir until onions are tender but taking care not to burn the garlic.
Step 3: Add tomato paste, don't burn.
Step 4: Add paprika, water and bay leaf, mix together well.
Step 5: Add in the lima beans, thawed pearl onions and rice stirring to combine, bring to a boil.
Step 6: Turn down to simmer and cover.
Step 7: Cook for 20 minutes, take off heat and leave covered 5 minutes.
Step 8: Remove the bay leaf and season to taste.
