Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/3 pounds Italian sausage, ground
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell peppers
  • 1/3 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup diced potato or turnip
  • 1/3 cup diced celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Lawry's Southwest seasoning
  • 1 cup crumbled goat cheese
  • 2 pie crusts
  • Egg wash

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F.

  • Step 2: Brown sausage in a large skillet with the oil, crumbling as it cooks. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  • Step 3: Brown veggies in the same skillet, covered on medium low temp. Season with the salt, pepper and southwest seasoning. Add the meat back in and stir.

  • Step 4: Put 1 pie crust in bottom of a deep pie pan.

  • Step 5: Pour meat mixture in and sprinkle the goat cheese over it. Cover with top pie crust and seal edges. Cut several slits in the top of the crust to vent steam. Brush with egg wash.

  • Step 6: Put in preheated 350°F oven and bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until crust is nicely browned. Let set 10 minutes before serving.
