Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Put raisins in a bowl of warm water to cover and soak 12 minutes or until plump.
Step 3: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix with a whisk all dry ingredients.
Step 4: In another bowl, mix oil, applesauce and eggs.
Step 5: Slowly add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Step 6: Drain raisins and mix in.
Step 7: Pour batter into a 13-by-9-inch pan that has been lightly greased with the butter.
Step 8: Bake in preheated oven 35 minutes or until done. Cool completely and frost.
Step 9: Combine and mix until smooth.
Step 10: Note: Start by adding 5 ½ cups of the sugar for a frosting that is less sweet. Adding less milk
Step 11: Add up to 8 cups if desired.
Step 12: After frosting, "rake" top of cake with a fork to make ridges.
