Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F, then grease an 11"x7" baking dish.
Step 2: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef & onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, then add the garlic & cook 1 minute longer. Drain off the fat.
Step 3: Add the beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ketchup & mustard, then bring to a simmer. Cook another 5 minutes or until heated through, then transfer the meat & bean mixture to the prepared baking dish.
Step 4: Separate the biscuits & cut them in half, before arranging them over the beef mixture.
Step 5: Bake, uncovered, for 18 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown, then sprinkle with the cheese & bake another 2 to 3 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted.
