Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, (3 squares old which is 6 squares now)
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons white corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 9 ounces refrigerated pie crust, (1 - 9 inch pastry crust (1 package)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, place the eggs in mixing bowl and beat until light.

  • Step 3: Beat syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla into the eggs.

  • Step 4: Add the nuts.

  • Step 5: Now add slightly cooled chocolate mixture.

  • Step 6: Mix thoroughly and pour; into pastry lined pie pan.

  • Step 7: Bake at 350° for 25 to 35 minutes or until the top is crusty and filling is set — but soft inside.

  • Step 8: Do not over bake.

  • Step 9: Pie should shake like custard so it will not be too stiff when cool.

  • Step 10: May be served plain or with ice cream or whipped cream.
