Step 1: Melt butter and chocolate in the top of a double boiler.
Step 2: Meanwhile, place the eggs in mixing bowl and beat until light.
Step 3: Beat syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla into the eggs.
Step 4: Add the nuts.
Step 5: Now add slightly cooled chocolate mixture.
Step 6: Mix thoroughly and pour; into pastry lined pie pan.
Step 7: Bake at 350° for 25 to 35 minutes or until the top is crusty and filling is set — but soft inside.
Step 8: Do not over bake.
Step 9: Pie should shake like custard so it will not be too stiff when cool.
Step 10: May be served plain or with ice cream or whipped cream.
