Step 1: Sprinkle salt and pepper on the bottom of a 2 quart (or so) casserole dish, and then press in the ground chuck, patting down well into the bottom of the dish.
Step 2: Salt and pepper again.
Step 3: And sprinkle with minced onion.
Step 4: Add a layer of potatoes and a little salt/pepper to taste.
Step 5: Layer potatoes...until dish is full.
Step 6: Dot with butter.
Step 7: Cover and bake at 350 degrees about 90 minutes.
