Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Burger
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Accent seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon season salt
  • Stuffing
  • 2 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 8 ounces processed Swiss cheese food
  • 4 ounces stems and pieces mushrooms, drained well (1 can)
  • 10 ounces cream of mushroom soup (1 can)
  • Topping
  • 2 cups onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 ounces rye bread, toasted,(8 slices)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place ground beef in bowl and add bouillon, Accent seasoning, white pepper and salt.

  • Step 2: Mix together until all ingredients are well blended.

  • Step 3: Divide this mixture into eight 3 ounce balls.

  • Step 4: Place each ball of beef on a piece of large waxed paper, cover with identical piece and using a bottom of bowl, make the patties about 1/4 inch thick and 5 inches across.

  • Step 5: Take four of the patties and place a cheese slice on each patty, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, add a tablespoon of soup then some mushrooms, mound in the center of each patty.

  • Step 6: Top each with the remaining patties.

  • Step 7: Press the edges of each stuffed patty together with a fork to seal in the stuffing mixture.

  • Step 8: Spray cooking spray on broiler rack.

  • Step 9: Add patties

  • Step 10: Broil 10 minutes or until done and lightly browned. Don't play around too much or burger will break.

  • Step 11: You could fry bottom in skillet and then broil in oven which is probably what they did.

  • Step 12: Meanwhile, saute onions in butter until caramelized.

  • Step 13: Add cooked burger to 1 rye toast and top with onions add other rye toast hanging off top to the side.
