Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 ounces ham, 4 x 4 inches, (8 slices)
  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese, (4 thin slices)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup olive oil, for frying

How to Make

  • Step 1: Put out 4 slices of the ham separately on a clean work area .

  • Step 2: Place a piece of cheese on each ham slice, then lay another slice of ham on top.

  • Step 3: Break the eggs into a bowl.

  • Step 4: Add the water to the eggs and beat with a wire whisk; season lightly.

  • Step 5: Place the flour on a plate and season lightly.

  • Step 6: Place the breadcrumbs on plate and season lightly.

  • Step 7: Set up the breading station in the order of flour, egg, breadcrumbs.

  • Step 8: Dip the "sandwiches" into the flour, then the beaten egg, and then dredge in the breadcrumbs.​​

  • Step 9: Put in frig 1 hour so they will set.

  • Step 10: Heat enough of the oil to cover bottom of skillet.

  • Step 11: Fry the San Jacobo sandwich (but don't crowd pan) in the oil until golden brown;

  • Step 12: Turn over and fry the other side.

  • Step 13: Remove it from the frying pan and place it on a paper towel to drain until all sandwiches are cooked.
