Step 1: Heat a large skillet or sauté pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to heat up.
Step 2: Add the sliced onion to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften and become translucent.
Step 3: Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
Step 4: Add the sliced half of the green bell pepper to the pan and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until it begins to soften.
Step 5: Add the green beans to the pan and season with salt and pepper. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Step 6: Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pan, and let the green beans cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. You want the green beans to be tender-crisp, so adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Step 7: If you prefer a bit of heat, you can sprinkle some red pepper flakes over the green beans while they cook.
Step 8: Once the green beans are cooked to your liking, remove the pan from the heat.
