Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 5-6 cinnamon swirl bread, cubed (or white bread)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: In a 2 quart sauce pan heat heavy cream and butter over medium heat until butter is melted and milk is hot but not boiling. Remove from heat and let cool.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl mix egg, yolks, sugar, vanilla, salt and bourbon. Add cooled milk mixture. Stir in bread cubes. Pour into a buttered shallow, flat bottom oven proof pan – roughly 8” x 8”. Place pan in a larger baking dish with 1” water.

  • Step 4: Bake uncovered 30-40 minutes until golden brown and top is a bit crunchy or when knife inserted 1” from edge comes out clean.

  • Step 5: Serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
