Step 1: Mix spices together and set aside.
Step 2: Heat oil in stockpot on medium heat.
Step 3: Add onion, cook until translucent.
Step 4: Add garlic, ginger and spices.
Step 5: Cook a minute stirring around.
Step 6: Add water.
Step 7: Simmer 45 minutes covered.
Step 8: Take off heat let rest covered 5 minutes and check for seasoning and that lentils are cooked through.
