  • 1 pound beef stew meat
  • 1/2 teaspoon seven spice mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup onions, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 16 ounces dried black eyed peas
  • 1 bay leaf

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in pan.

  • Step 2: Season beef to taste with the spices.

  • Step 3: Fry until browned.

  • Step 4: Add to Pam sprayed crockpot.

  • Step 5: Add onions and saute until brown.

  • Step 6: Add garlic and tomato paste, cook slightly.

  • Step 7: Add to crockpot.

  • Step 8: Swish broth in pan and pour into crockpot.

  • Step 9: Add peas and bay leaf.

  • Step 10: Cook on low for at least 6 hours until peas are cooked and meat is tender.

  • Step 11: Add water as needed.

  • Step 12: Stir occasionally.

  • Step 13: Season to taste.

  • Step 14: Remove bay leaf.
