Step 1: Place all of the base ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. Cook until fragrant and strawberries are tender, about 5 minutes. Let cool completely, at least an hour.
Step 2: When cool, transfer to a blender. Process until smooth. Refrigerate at least an hour.
Step 3: Cut orange into 8 wedges. Set aside.
Step 4: In a mixing glass, combine 1/4 cup of the strawberry base, 1 ounce white rum, 1 ounce dark rum, and 6 dashes of bitters. Top with some crushed ice and stir until the mixture dilutes into a smooth puree. Pour into a glass over crushed ice. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with an orange wedge. Repeat for remaining servings.
