Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/3 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 1/3 cup chopped red onion
  • 3/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
  • 4 ounces (1 cup) sliced white or portabella mushrooms
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 25 ounce jar marinara sauce of your choice
  • 3 tablespoons 1/2 and 1/2 or heavy cream (optional)
  • 8 ounces angel hair spaghetti, or other type of pasta.

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large saucepan or skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  • Step 2: Add carrots, celery and onions and sauté until they're just tender, about 3 minutes. Add the ground beef and cook until almost browned, breaking up the meat as you stir.

  • Step 3: Grate garlic into pan and add sliced mushrooms,

  • Step 4: Keep stirring until meat is no longer pink.

  • Step 5: Pour in the jar of store-bought marinara sauce along with salt, pepper and oregano.

  • Step 6: Cover pan and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens.

  • Step 7: Cook pasta so it will be ready when the sauce is.

  • Step 8: When the Bolognese sauce has reached your desired consistency, stir in the 1/2 and1/2, if using.

  • Step 9: Mangia!
