The ingredients are:
  • 16 ounces dry navy beans
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups onions, diced
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 4 cups vegetable stock
  • ¼ teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper , to taste
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon flour

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak the white beans in a large stockpot of cold water for overnight

  • Step 2: Drain the beans

  • Step 3: Add water and bring to a boil

  • Step 4: Simmer 1 hours

  • Step 5: Meanwhile, a large saucepan, melt the butter, and fry the onions over medium-low heat for 5 mins until they start to become translucent.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle over the flour

  • Step 7: And stir well.

  • Step 8: Add the garlic, and continue to cook for 5 minutes, stirring regularly.

  • Step 9: Add the stock to the pan, and mix everything well, ensuring there are no lumps.

  • Step 10: Add the boiled and drained beans, marjoram, and thyme.

  • Step 11: Taste, and season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 12: Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 40 minutes, until the beans are soft.

  • Step 13: Adding water as needed stirring occasionally

  • Step 14: Remove the pan from the heat, and stir in the sour cream mixed with a tablespoon of flour a little at a time simmer don't boil until warmed
