Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 4 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Chicken:
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil]
  • Steamed rice
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, thinly slice scallions or chili sauce.

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add all sauce ingredients to liquid measuring cup and whisk to combine.

  • Step 2: To make chicken, combine cornstarch and seasoning in glass container with lid. Add chicken, seal lid and shake gently to coat chicken. In large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Working in batches, add chicken in single layer and sear 2 minutes per side until golden brown.

  • Step 3: Add chicken to slow cooker; stir in sauce. Cook on low 1 hour and 30 minutes (safe internal temp. 165°F). Serve with rice, broccoli and desired toppings. Refrigerate any leftovers.
