Step 1: Bring a little water in a saucepan to a boil, add the cucumbers and cook for a few minutes, until translucent. Drain and arrange in a bowl, adding salt to taste.
Step 2: In a saucepan or skillet, saute the onion and garlic in the olive oil over low heat for about 5 minutes, or until barely golden.
Step 3: Add the vinegar, sugar and a little salt and pepper to taste. Saute for a couple of minutes more; then pour over the cucumbers.
Step 4: Leave it to rest for a couple of hours before serving at room temperature.
