  • 1 pound rutabaga, peeled, diced
  • 3 pounds potatoes, peeled, diced
  • 6 cups water, boiling
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the rutabaga for 40 minutes in boiling water when they are almost soft add potatoes about 30 minutes in and when they are both soft drain water keeping 1 cup

  • Step 2: Mash with butter to taste ( my mom would use electric mixer here)

  • Step 3: Seasoning to taste

  • Step 4: Adding water if to dry, a little bit at a time
