  • The following recipe serves 10-12 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound sausage meat (Italian sausage)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 onion, small (or 1/2 medium onion--chopped)
  • 56 ounces tomato puree (two 28 ounce cans, I use Tuttorosso as that is what my friend's mother used)
  • 12 ounces tomato paste (two 6-ounce cans)
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce (two 8 ounce cans)
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon dry parsley
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (scant)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a heavy pot, brown sausage and hamburg, breaking it up.

  • Step 2: Add onions and garlic and cook till meat is done; add tomato paste and stir till mixed.

  • Step 3: Add tomato puree, sauce, and water (when adding the water put it into the puree can to rinse it out and add to meat mixture).

  • Step 4: Add basil brown sugar, salt, parsley, and black pepper; mix well; add Parmesan cheese and mix well.

  • Step 5: Simmer on low for 2-4 hours stirring off and on so it won't burn; if you think you need to add a tad of water, only add it about 1/8 of a cup at a time.

  • Step 6: Cook your spahetti and enjoy!
