Step 1: Sauce:
Step 2: Heat the oil over medium heat.
Step 3: Add the chopped onion.
Step 4: Sauté
Step 5: Add the canned tomatoes.
Step 6: Add dried basil
Step 7: Cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
Step 8: When the sauce is ready, add salt
Step 9: In a pan
Step 10: Heat oil
Step 11: Brown a clove of garlic with the cherry tomatoes cut in half, then add the tomato sauce.
Step 12: Meanwhile
Step 13: Cook the pasta in a pot with plenty of boiling salted water (remember, it should be "al dente," literally cooked to be firm to the bite).
Step 14: Once the pasta is cooked
Step 15: Drain keep 1/2 cup pasta water
Step 16: Pour it into the pan with the sauce
Step 17: Simmer adding pasta water if needed
Step 18: Add fresh basil and serve with grated Parmigiano cheese.
