Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Cake:
  • 3 squares (3 ounces)unsweetened chocolate,(1 ounce, each)
  • 1/2 cup butter, (1 stick)
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 8 ounces sour cream (1 cup)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Fluffy white frosting:
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 square (1 ounces) bakers chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cake:

  • Step 2: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  • Step 3: Grease 2 eight inch round layer cake pans

  • Step 4: Flour lightly, tap out excess.

  • Step 5: Combine, melt and cool chocolate, butter and water. (In microwave)

  • Step 6: Sift into mixing bowl the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix in separate large bowl the eggs, sour cream, sugar and vanilla.

  • Step 7: Stir chocolate mixture into egg mixture.

  • Step 8: Add this to flour mixture one half at a time, just until smooth. (Batter will be thin.)

  • Step 9: Pour evenly into

  • Step 10: Two 8 inch layers.

  • Step 11: Bake 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees.

  • Step 12: Frosting:

  • Step 13: Beat until blended.

  • Step 14: Put in double boiler that's boiling

  • Step 15: Cook in double boiler, beating constantly with electric beater 5-7 minutes.

  • Step 16: Remove from water; stir in vanilla.

  • Step 17: Melt 1 square chocolate with 1 tablespoon butter. (In microwave)Drizzle over top of frosting letting mixture run down sides.
