  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (or can use cake flour)
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Set oven rack to second-lowest position. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  • Step 2: In a bowl cream the butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beating after each addition.

  • Step 3: In another bowl sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in half of the flour mixture to the creamed mixture; add milk and vanilla, then stir in remaining flour mixture.

  • Step 4: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cakes tests done.
