Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup dried tortellini (about 1/2 of a 7 ounce package)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 16 ounces kielbasa, cut in half lengthwise and then cut into half moons
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon louisiana hot sauce or more if you prefer (not tabasco)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup swiss cheese, shredded or your favorite, but I love the taste swiss cheese gives it
  • 1 tablespoon spicy mustard (dijon)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large saucepan, cook tortellini in a large amount of salted boiling water for 10 minutes. Add broccoli and sausage. Return the pot to boiling and cook another 5 minutes. (Until pasta is tender and broccoli is tender-crisp.) Drain and return to the pan and cover to keep warm.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan melt butter. Stir in flour. Make a roux, cooking out the taste of the flour but not browning it. Add the milk while stirring. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add cheese, mustard, hot sauce and cumin. Stir until cheese is completely melted, about 2 minute. Pour the cheese sauce over the pasta, kielbasa and broccoli. Toss to coat and serve!
