Step 1: Spatzael:
Step 2: Sift dry ingredients together
Step 3: Make a depression in the center
Step 4: Add egg and 1 cup water, or enough to make a medium batter.
Step 5: Pour into the well
Step 6: Beat the batter only until it is smooth.
Step 7: Let rest 2 hours in the frig
Step 8: Pour the batter on plate ( put dough on a smooth rim plate and tip the plate till it started to slide off and cut off the dough in slivers with a butter knife into the boiling water.
Step 9: When they float they are done and can be skimmed off and put in a bowl.)
Step 10: And let the Spaetzle fall directly into a pot of simmering water
Step 11: Stir gently so that they do not stick together.
Step 12: When the Spaetzle rise to the surface they are sufficiently cooked.
Step 13: Drain the Spaetzle well
Step 14: Add to buttered green beans and cook until warmed
Step 15: Beans:
Step 16: Heat butter and onions
Step 17: Add thawed green beans
Step 18: Add cooked spatzael
Step 19: Season to taste
