Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 - 4 ounces (4 strips) bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled (weight is a guesstimate)
  • Bacon Fat
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup light cream
  • 1 large head Boston lettuce
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook the bacon, remove it from the frying pan and crumble, reserving all of the bacon fat in the pan.

  • Step 2: Beat the egg, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and cream together and set aside.

  • Step 3: Wash, dry, and tear the lettuce into small pieces and put it into a large bowl.

  • Step 4: Return the bacon fat to the heat. When it is hot, pour it over the lettuce. Mix gently. Pour the egg mixture into the same pan and cook over medium heat until it boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Pour the hot sweet and sour mixture over the lettuce and mix. Serve immediately.

  • NOTE: The cooked dressing for this salad looks somewhat curdled, but it tastes excellent.
